Requiem by Lauren Oliver

Delirium Series, by Lauren Oliver

Finally finished reading this amazing series, and can't say enough about it. Delirium follows Lena, a girl born into a United States full of rules and walls, but devoid of love. Love is a disease that has been eradicated, after all, for everyone 18 and older.

Before she can have the procedure that will make her free of the disease, however, Lena finds herself on a dangerous course - love, betrayal, escape, and more.

As I read the books, I kept waiting for that moment when I would start to hate the plot line. With most dystopian YA fiction books, that happens for me. I spend part of the second book, or the first part of the final book, hating the characters, the story arch, and sure of how the story will end. Lena's journey kept me engaged the entire time, however.

Part Divergent, part Hunger Games, this series is perfect for 6th through 10th graders (especially girls) who feel strongly about love, freedom, and their ability to choose for themselves.
